Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

Hey everyone,

So The Bordwells had a great Christmas. We celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve. Stephen had to go leave for work Christmas Day. We got a tree, but never really got around to decorating it this year. You can’t beat the great fragrance of a fresh cut pine tree. But we did manage to put the star on top. We did put up all the stockings for us and the pets. It’s really hard to get into the spirit when your family isn’t around and our plans to go to South Carolina were canceled because of our move to Minot. The day was still great. We had a really nice Salmon dinner talked to family and opened gifts. The best part was of course watching he pets play with their gifts. We got the cats a hanging toy and they love it and play with it constantly. The dogs got their traditional gift of a large dog bone. As usual Chloe worked on her bone and then took Payton’s.

Thanksgiving!!

What are you thankful for? I am thankful that all my family members are healthy this holiday season. I am thankful that my husband is in the states. Although we spent our Thanksgiving apart we were both safe and enjoyed the company of friends. Stephens squadron made sure all the guys had a great meal while still working. I spent the day with friends and talked to my family back in Albuquerque. This is the time of year we really need to give thanks to all the men and women serving our country and can’t be with their families.

First Snow Plow Experience

Okay….yesterday we got about 7 inches at the house. Luckily Stephen was not in the field and he got to use the the snow plow for the first time. It seemed to take forever but the entire driveway (our side and the neighbors) was completed along with the sidewalk in front of our house and the neighbors house. Stephen made sure i knew how to operate the plow, after all he will not always be home when it snows and i might need to leave the house.

First Snow in Minot

Hey everyone! We are all moved into our house and life has continued. We got our fist snow on Stephens birthday and it was awesome. He still had to shovel snow and clear the drive way but I think he still had a great day. He wanted snow and got it. Everyone here in town said this was a light dusting. I didn’t know 6 – 9 inches of snow was a light dusting. Anyways, the dogs loved the snow.

Our Roadtrip….

Okay….So on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 we left Albuquerque, New Mexico for Minot, North Dakota. Stephen drove his truck with the both cats (Sasha and Mackie). I had the suv with the dogs (Chloe and Payton). We started our adventure heading north. The towns came and went and after a few hours we were in Colorado. Finally we were making progress. We found ourselves stopping about every 3 hours to let the dogs go to the bathroom and get water. Around 10 pm we landed outside of Denver, Colorado in a town called Firestone. We were able to find a hotel that would accept pets and settled down for the night. As a side note: I find it interesting that even when you let your dogs out and they do there business they still manage to have accidents all over the hotel floor. Good thing we were in a pet room.

The night and morning came and went. We go up and got ready and got our things and the animals loaded in the cars. Next we found ourselves in Wyoming. All I can say about Wyoming is they have some of the nicest rest stop bathrooms I have ever seen. They are really clean. More states could learn something just by traveling through Wyoming and stopping at a rest stop. It seemed like we drove for every, but eventually we made our way into South Dakota. Now were were traveling north on highway 85 and I am following Stephen and of course what happens? Our Uhaul trailer get a blow out and our cell phones get no service. What are we suppose to do now. We have 4 animals, no water left, a flat trailer and not cell service. Luckily, we had passed a biker bar about 2 miles back. So I travel back down and ask for a working phone. They very interesting guy smoking out side tell me the phone is for local calls only and about half a mile up the road is a spot off to side where I should be able to get three bars on my cell phone. So i travel up the road and call Uhaul road side assistant and 2.5 hours later someone showed up to fix our tire. But of course the tire is the correct size, but the rim is not. They had to tow the trailer to Rapid City, South Dakot. Now this detour took us a little more east than we wanted to. But we found a hotel that took pets and settled down for the night.

Friday morning finally came. We went to pick up the newl?y fixed Uhaul. We decided to head to Mount Rushmore for the morning and then Minot. We weren’t able to stay too long because of the animals, but we were there long enough to take a picture. Next stop…Minot, North Dakota. I can say the Black Hills are beautiful…too bad were not closer to them. We finally made it to Minot around 8:00 pm. It really isn’t that bad, but different. The people seem nice, but again I just got here. We check into what will possibly be our home for the next 3- 6 months. There was a couple two doors down from us. They were very nice. They introduced themselves and invited us for dinner. They were super nice and gave some insight into what the real issues with housing in Minot was. In a nut shell….the housing situation sucks here and I really don’t know what were going to do after 30 days. In the end we made it to Minot safely.

Minot Here We Come!!

So Stephen has orders to Minot, North Dakota. Not the first choice on the list or on the list at all. We are excited to be moving to a new place with new adventures. We will be leaving Albuquerque on August 25th.

Mudd Volleyball 2010

Yesterday we played Mudd Volleyball with friends. We had a blast. Our team went 4-1 on our court getting second to the only team that went 5-0 and was serious about winning. This was a dramatic improvement to the 1-4 team that we had last year. Our name was the Swam Azz Assassins. We had tie dye t-shirts, crazy hats and nick names. Stephen had a mullet glitter hat on his nickname was “Redneck Yacht Club”. I had a rat hat on and my nickname was “Dirty Rat”. We has so much fun with everyone on the team. This year was a great group.
